COMING BACK!

Hi everyone!
I was away from the blog all this period because was facing some personal problems.
My dad and hero was sick then in last March he passed away.
Miss him a lot but never sad.
Rest in peace my dad, mentor and hero!
I am sure the heaven will be better with you around.
Until we meet again!

SID JACINTHO:

Name: Sid Jacintho de Oliveira Junior - Sid Jacintho

Born and raised in Niteroi city, Rio de Janeiro state, Brazil.

Sid Jacintho start his training in January of 1991 on his city and in 1994 move to Fabricio Martins and Oswaldo Alves Club. In 2000 his friend Ricardo Arona invited him to move to Brazilian Top Team.

Sid Jacintho is black belt since 13th July of 2002,under Renato Ferro(that time on Brazilian Top Team). With 20 years training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Sid Jacintho has competed in the most famous jiu-jitsu tournaments in the world.

Sid Jacintho last competition in Brazil was the World Balck Belt in July of 2006 when he reach the third place. After that become more professor and in June of 2007 move to Abu Dhabi to teach there. In U.A.E. Sid was head of rules from 2007 till 2014. Also there he teaches an armed forces, police and vips.

In 2013 Sid Jacintho return to Master Fabricio Martins International Team-FIT Team.

In September of 2014 Sid came back to compete at Dubai Open and won his division and open weight with gi on masters.

A história do Jiu-jitsu.

Segundo alguns historiadores o Jiu-jitsu ou "arte suave", nasceu na Índia e era praticado por monges budistas. Preocupados com a auto defesa, os monges desenvolveram uma técnica baseada nos princípios do equilíbrio, do sistema de articulação do corpo e das alavancas, evitando o uso da força e de armas. Com a expansão do budismo o jiu-jitsu percorreu o Sudeste asiático, a China e, finalmente, chegou ao Japão, onde desenvolveu-se e popularizou-se.
A partir do final do século XIX, alguns mestres de jiu-jitsu migraram do Japão para outros Continentes, vivendo do ensino da arte marcial e das lutas que realizavam.
Esai Maeda Koma, conhecido como Conde Koma, foi um deles. Depois de viajar com sua trupe lutando em vários países da Europa e das Américas, chegou ao Brasil em 1915 e se fixou em Belém do Pará, no ano seguinte, onde conheceu Gastão Gracie. Pai de oito filhos, cinco homens e três mulheres, Gastão tornou-se um entusiasta do jiu-jitsu e levou o mais velho, Carlos, para aprender a luta com o japonês.
Franzino por natureza, aos 15 anos, Carlos Gracie encontrou no jiu-jitsu um meio de realização pessoal. Aos 19, se transferiu para o Rio de Janeiro com a família e adotou a profissão de lutador e professor dessa arte marcial. Viajou para Belo Horizonte e depois para São Paulo, ministrando aulas e vencendo adversários bem mais fortes fisicamente. Em 1925, voltou ao Rio e abriu a primeira Academia Gracie de Jiu-Jitsu. Convidou seus irmãos Oswaldo e Gastão para assessorá-lo e assumiu a criação dos menores George, com 14 anos, e Hélio, com 12.
Desde então, Carlos passou a transmitir seus conhecimentos aos irmãos, adequando e aperfeiçoando a técnica à compleição física franzina característica de sua família.
Também transmitiu-lhes sua filosofia de vida e conceitos de alimentação natural, sendo um pioneiro na criação de uma dieta especial para atletas, a Dieta Gracie, transformando o jiu-jitsu em sinônimo de saúde.
De posse de uma eficiente técnica de defesa pessoal, Carlos Gracie viu no jiu-jitsu um meio para se tornar um homem mais tolerante, respeitoso e autoconfiante. Imbuído de provar a superioridade do jiu-jitsu e formar uma tradição familiar, Carlos Gracie lançou desafios aos grandes lutadores da época e passou a gerenciar a carreira dos irmãos.
Enfrentando adversários 20, 30 quilos mais pesados, os Gracie logo adquiriram fama e notoriedade nacional. Atraídos pelo novo mercado que se abriu em torno do jiu-jitsu, muitos japoneses vieram para o Rio, porém, nenhum deles formou uma escola tão sólida quanto a da Academia Gracie, pois o jiu-jitsu que praticavam privilegiava as quedas e o dos Gracie, o aprimoramento da luta no chão e os golpes de finalização.
Ao modificar as regras internacionais do jiu-jitsu japonês nas lutas que ele e os irmãos realizavam, Carlos Gracie iniciou o primeiro caso de mudança de nacionalidade de uma luta, ou esporte, na história esportiva mundial. Anos depois, a arte marcial japonesa passou a ser denominada de jiu-jitsu brasileiro, sendo exportada para o mundo todo, inclusive para o Japão.

The Jiu-Jitsu history.

Some historians of Jiu-Jitsu say that the origins of "the gentle art" can be traced back to India, where it was practiced by Buddhist Monks. Concerned with self-defense, these monks created techniques based upon principles of balance and leverage, and a system of manipulating the body in a manner where one could avoid relying upon strength or weapons. With the expansion of Buddhism, Jiu-Jitsu spread from Southeast Asia to China, finally arriving in Japan where it developed and gained further popularity.

In the last days of the 19th century, some Jiu-Jitsu masters emigrated from Japan to other continents, teaching the martial arts as well as taking part in fights and competitions.

Esai Maeda Koma, also known as "Conde Koma," was one such master. After traveling with a troupe which fought in various countries in Europe and the Americas, Koma arrived in Brazil in 1915, and settled in Belem do Para the next year, where he met a man named Gastao Gracie.

The father of eight children, among them five boys and three girls, Gastao became a Jiu-Jitsu enthusiast and brought his oldest son, Carlos, to learn from the Japanese master.

For a naturally frail fifteen-year old Carlos Gracie, Jiu-Jitsu became a method not simply for fighting, but for personal improvement. At nineteen, he moved to Rio de Janeiro with his family and began teaching and fighting. In his travels, Carlos would teach classes, and also proved the efficiency of the art by beating opponents who were physically stronger. In 1925, he returned to Rio and opened the first school, known as the "Academia Gracie de Jiu-Jitsu."

Since then, Carlos started to share his knowledge with his brothers, adapting and refining the techniques to the naturally weaker characteristics of his family. Carlos also taught them his philosophies of life and his concepts of natural nutrition. Eventually, Carlos became a pioneer in creating a special diet for athletes, "the Gracie diet," which transformed Jiu-Jitsu into a term synonymous with health.

Having created an efficient self defense system, Carlos Gracie saw in the art a way to become a man who was more tolerant, respectful, and self-confident. With a goal of proving Jiu-Jitsu’s superiority over other martial arts, Carlos challenged the greatest fighters of his time. He also managed the fighting careers of his brothers. Because they were fighting and defeating opponents fifty or sixty pounds heavier, the Gracies quickly gained recognition and prestige.

Attracted to the new market which was opened around Jiu-Jitsu, many Japanese practitioners came to Rio, but none were able to establish schools as successful as the Gracies. This was due to the fact that the Japanese stylists were more focused on takedowns and throws, and the Jiu-Jitsu the Gracies practiced had more sophisticated ground fighting and submission techniques. Carlos and his brothers changed and adapted the techniques in such a way that it completely altered the complexion of the international Jiu-Jitsu principles. These techniques were so distinctive to Carlos and his brothers that the sport became attached to a national identity, and is now commonly known as "Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu," practiced by martial artists all over the world, including Japan.
